A DARK DAY
Art Clokey passed away on January 08, 2010
A very wise man once said, "Entertainment should leave you feeling good, and sometimes inspired", Art was a true inspiration, joy and pioneer to so many over the years. We have all been blessed being part of his life, whether in short connections or long lasting relationships. We are saddened by Art's passing and he will be missed in this world for all the generous creations that he has shared through his life with all of us. We are certain that wherever Art is now, he's continuing to inspire and spreading joy and peace around him.

Step into the life and work of Art Clokey, creator of Gumby, grandfather of stop-motion animation. The late Robina Marchesi's documentary explores why a man would spend his 85 years on earth playing with lumps of colored clay. Clokey's world-famous characters, Gumby and Pokey, and Davy and
Goliath, echo the spiritual path of their creator whose works have influenced audiences and filmmakers for a half century. Producer Klara Grunning-Harris will be present for Q&A on the 27th.

You'll never see Gumby in quite the same way again after viewing this insightful film about his creator. The life and times of pioneering animator Art Clokey are explored in this new documentary, which features fascinating interviews with Art as well as a host of other figures in the animation field. Clips of Art's groundbreaking work, including his art
film MANDALA and early Gumby and Davey and Goliath episodes, are given deep context through a comprehensive biographical portrait that includes accounts of painful personal tragedies and a spiritual quest helped Art shape the indestructible character of Gumby himself. It is only
appropriate that GUMBY DHARMA also features new stop motion work (directed/animated by Academy Award(c) Nominee Timothy Hittle) depicting interviews with Gumby and some of the gang on their time with Art Clokey.
